Considering Networking, Cybersecurity or Privacy as a Career? Learn about the Integrated Program at CMU's Information Networking Institute

Although cybersecurity and privacy are two of the most in-demand tech jobs in industry today, the supply of qualified professionals is low. The College of Engineering's Information Networking Institute offers CMU students the opportunity to earn a B.S. and M.S. in five years: completing an M.S. in Information Networking or Information Security in just 12 months. Traditionally our programs attract undergrads in ECE, SCS and IS, however if you have a strong coding background and are interested in these areas, our programs could be for you. The session will review admissions criteria, provide details about undergraduate courses that can be taken to waive graduate requirements, introduce scholarship and funding opportunities and detail career and salary outcomes. All interested students are welcome to attend.

Fraternity and Sorority Information Session

Meet CMU’s Greek Life staff and student leaders representing all Greek organizations on campus. Attendees will learn about the student experience in fraternities and sororities and are provided with information about the structure, traditions and culture of CMU’s Greek community. New students are welcome to attend.

IDeATe Information Session

IDeATe supports interdisciplinary collaboration at Carnegie Mellon through which students expand their domain knowledge by learning and working in diverse teams of their fellow emerging experts. IDeATe offers minors and courses in Game Design, Animation & Special Effects, Media Design, Design for Learning, Sonic Arts, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Intelligent Environments, and Physical Computing. Assistant Director Kelly Delaney will give an overview of IDeATe and answer questions about how to incorporate this exciting program into your undergraduate experience.

Solving Today’s Complex Problems – Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Programs in Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy

Today's complex problems in AI, energy and environmental systems, communication systems, and technology innovation require expertise across disciplines to find effective solutions. The undergraduate programs in EPP provide students from across the University with an opportunity to explore courses and research in areas where science, technology, society, and policy intersect. We offer an additional major in Engineering and Public Policy (CIT students), an additional major in Science, Technology, and Public Policy (Dietrich, MCS, SCS, and TSB students), and a minor in Technology and Policy (all students). Come learn about our additional major and minor programs and our courses that bridge disciplines. This session is open to all undergraduate students.

Student Academic Success Center: Overview of Supports and Resources

Join the Student Academic Success Center session to learn about academic resources available to all students such as study groups, tutoring, supplemental instruction, language support, writing support, and academic coaching. Attendees will also learn about academic accommodations and supports for students with cognitive, emotional, physical, and sensory disabilities.

2:00 - 3:00 pm

Carnegie Mellon University Washington Semester Program Information Session

From embassy headquarters to nongovernmental organizations, think tanks to advocacy organizations, and consulting firms to media outlets, Washington, DC, is a focal point for many international and public policy activities. Undergraduates from any course of study who would value firsthand policy experience are invited to apply to the Carnegie Mellon University Washington Semester Program (CMU/WSP), sponsored by the university's Institute for Politics and Strategy. In this semester-long program, students live, work, and study in Washington, DC, coming into direct contact with political, business, and community leaders and learning about the most pressing policy issues of the day. CMU/WSP students earn 48 units for their semester in Washington, interning approximately twenty-four hours per week in any sector or field of interest within Washington, DC, while taking classes three to four afternoons/evenings per week. Courses are taught by Carnegie Mellon faculty. The Institute for Politics and Strategy sponsors events and policy oriented opportunities in Washington for students participating in the program to further enrich their experience and enhance their understanding of how Washington functions as a hub of international and public policy decision making. Join Miller ICA's visitor services coordinator, Lydia Rosenberg to learn more about the ICA and what we have to offer, including a virtual walkthrough of our fall 2020 exhibition, GET OUT THE VOTE: Empowering the Women's Vote. About the exhibition: 2020 marks the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote in 1920. It was the first legislation for women’s voting rights. Not until the passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965 were voting rights of ALL women protected and enforced. The Get Out the Vote: Empowering the Women’s Vote poster campaign, in partnership with AIGA Design for Democracy and the League of Women Voters, commemorates this milestone. A core group of invited female designers submitted the first 67 non-partisan posters, to launch the initiative with their vision and voices. Read more.
