CIT - First Year Networking Event 11:00 – 12:00pm As we all know, networking is an important skill - even in a virtual world - but what is networking & how do you do it? During this event, you will get advice and practice the art of building a network. During the first part of the event, a recruiter from Goldman Sachs and a professional engineer who founded their own networking group will share their personal stories about networking and provide insight and advise on how you can develop the skills to create your own network. Industry professionals and recruiters have volunteered to network with you, so during the second-half of the event you will have time to practice what you’ve learned and making some new connections. This event, exclusively for first-year engineering students, is brought to you by the Gupta First Year Experience Program. We hope to see you there. It's a great way to get started building your own professional CIT network! Please respond by 11:00 p.m. EDT on September 29th by clicking Yes if you are able to particpiate or No if you are unable to join us.

Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering "Faculty Insights: A 20 Minute Briefing 3:00 – 4:00pm
Please join us for Carnegie Mellon University's College of Engineering "Faculty Insights: A 20 Minute Briefing." In this series, faculty will share insights into their research, its impact, and provide perspective for the future of the field. Following the 20-minute presentations, attendees will have an opportunity to direct questions and comments to the speakers. The Green Design Institute (GDI) at Carnegie Mellon University seeks to conduct, foster, and promote research pertaining to infrastructure and systems growth in the developing world. While adequate infrastructure is a key building block in elevating quality of life and social welfare, it is critical to pursue a balanced development path cognizant of both the returns to investment in systems and the associated environmental and human impacts. Broadly, research at the GDI seeks to find this balance. In this webinar, Professors Paulina Jaramillo and Nick Muller will discuss their vision for GDI and highlight ongoing research.
Here For You - Meeting 3:00 – 4:00pm Hi everyone! Here For You is a mental health advocacy club that was founded by a (now graduated) physics student and was previously funded by the physics department (thank you!). We aim to inform fellow students about mental health, decrease the stigma, and advocate for better & more inclusive mental health services on campus. We've organized a petition for racial justice in mental health services at CMU, compiled a student-perspective document of on & off campus mental health resources (it's up on our website now!), and held a few on-campus events. We're also a group of students who generally care for other people's mental health and many of us have gone through similar struggles, so if you need a place to talk or vent, remember that we're Here For You! We'll have meetings where we plan for events, and other meetings where we talk in-depth about certain mental health topics. We're also planning to have more "fun" meetings where we just draw, play games, and talk, so please come by if you need some time off from work. :) We'll be meeting at 7pm Pittsburgh time every Monday at: https://cmu.zoom.us/j/3328223731 Mailing List: https://tinyurl.com/H4UMailList Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HereForYouCMU/ Website: http://hereforyoucmu.com/ Primary Contact: HereForYouCMU@gmail.com
